December Extra Blog

During this amazing holiday season I was the busiest I've ever been at the bakery. Due to high demand for cupcakes and cakes for everyones christmas parties we were extremely busy. I was extremely proud of my projects i was involved with I had a lot of insight from my previous research articles that helped me during this time. I was at the Bakery almost every other day taking orders and working in the back as well. My main duties were to prep all icings and cupcake sheets for the orders to come in the rolling days. I know you might think this was easy but boy was it hard and time consuming the good thing was that the frostings only needed to be to colors green and red so glad thats all they had to be because I would have been there forever. During break I've realized that it takes a lot of patience with customers and their needs but in the end it always pays off.

Blog 10: EQ

1.   I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.

Essential Question 
Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question.  The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.  An essential question must:

• Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
• Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
•  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)

2.  Review the following EQs and

• Tell us if each meets the rule of three.
• Tell why they do or don't.

 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
      Yes because it's more of an opinion kind of question.
 b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
      No because it's worded weird.
 c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
      No because you can't really research this.
 d.  How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
      Yes because you can take a stance on this.

3.  Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior project.  The senior team will be meeting with students shortly for EQ revision and approval; you are expected to bring your research notebook to that meeting with your EQ draft written inside in pencil.

Blog Post 9

1. Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?

I’m most proud of the fact that I remembered to cite all my sources, and I pretty much gave all the information I intended to give.

2. Questions to Consider

  a. What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?

Professionalism: I spoke clearly enough for the class to hear, maintained eye contact with the audience as well as proper posture, and made sure to engage the audience by asking how they were following along. making sure they were following along.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?

I ws extremely nervous but I had everyone’s attention once I finished my hook. After that, I’d say my knowledge of my topic and experience definitely helped me make time and convey what I was trying to convey.

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
If I had a time machine, I would rework my presentation to be topic-to-topic. I feel like going by just the lesson plan confused some people, because a few points basically said the same thing about certain topics (like communication). The third quarter of my presentation is where I struggled most, because I didn’t take the time to dive as deep into “Personal experience” as I should have, and I ended up with more time than I anticipated.

Extra October Blog

During the month of october I was super busy!!! I had one wedding 15 Bitthdays and halloween. I had tons of shifts this months and I was really able to show my true colors at the shop. I created and sketched out a cake design for a wedding and I created and decorated cupcakes for walk ins on Halloween. Although I had encountered some problems like having less frosting than I anticipated to decorate the cupcakes but It was completely fine because I just placed the remaing of the frosting in the fridge it just gets so overwhelming I lose my mind sometimes. During this month I had a consultation sit in with my mentors I got to get hands on experience with getting to know the customers thoughts and expectations it was great to be able sit down and sketch out a rough draft of what their ideas and our ideas were able to become. I can't wait for what's in store for the future.

Blog 8: Research and Working EQ

1.  What is your working EQ?

•  How can one create and perfect the idea and image a customer is expecting.

2.  Possible Answers:

•  Receive and communicate details and information accurately and efficiently between you and your customer.

3.  What is the most important source you have used that has helped you come up with an answer to your working EQ?

•  Answer 1: The most important source I found supporting this is “How can one create and perfect an idea and image”, an article from the renowned business magazine Forbes.

•  Answer 2: "How to run an effective business": Effective Strategies” was extremely useful in finding this answer.

4.  Who is your mentor, or where are you doing mentorship, and how does what you are doing relate to your working EQ?

•  My mentors are Darla and Briana who own their own cake decorating store in chino hills. They have been helping find my answer by demonstrating the perfect customer service.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1. What I plan to do for my 30 hours of Independent Component is to keep doing the same thing I have been doing with my mentor, this time I want to go more in depth with my topic get heart to heart with it and perhaps get to do am cake order by myself. I will shadow with her more often rather than how much I did for mentorship. I will shadow and see how she interacts with clients how she handles remedy's if there for some odd reason comes a problem, as I'm shadowing her I will write down some questions that I'll have for her to answer by the time she's done seeing her clients.

2. To meet the expectations of showing 30 hours of evidence for my Independent Component I will type out the questions and take pictures perhaps some videos if that's okay. That way I have my evidence.

3. What I will be doing for my Independent Component will help me explore my topic in more depth by, helping me understand and answer my senior topic and essential question. The answers and experiences I will receive from my mentor will help me with my senior topic..

September Extra Blog Post

This Month in the life of Vince I encountered my very first cake order with my mentor!!! We got the order to make a minion cake for an up and coming two year old. Getting to make this cake was so incredibly fun it took tons of work but it was great when we finished the face of the little boy was priceless just know the customer completely loved the product you spent hours trying to recreate what they had envisioned in  their head is worth any payment. Having this opportunity gave me tons of background information I wouldn't have understood unless I had the hands on approach on it. I am truly grateful for such incredible mentors.
